Lake Mateos Fishing Lodge

Lake Mateos Bass Lodge is located on a picturesque hillside overlooking the Humaya River, the primary river feeding Lake Mateos. Constructed in 1986, and having recently undergone a major renovation and expansion, the lodge houses twenty guests. All rooms contain air-conditioning and have maid service twice daily. The rooms are extremely clean with private bathrooms and showers, pedestal sinks and American style elongated toilets (the Mexican versions are small!)

Benny Ruiz has been our manager in Mexico for 15 years will be on hand to host all groups. Most of our customers know Benny from both Mateos and Huites. He has over 25 years experience working with Americans in the fishing industry.

David Swendseid's Mateos Hawg: The lodge is the only existing fishing camp on the lake, meaning that unlike other crowded lakes in Mexico, these pristine waters are yours alone to fish. Located high into the Sierra Madre Mountain range, there are few distractions at Lake Mateos Bass Lodge. Picture only 12 boats on 50,000 acres.

The Lodge is situated overlooking the beautiful Humaya River only minutes away from our boat launch. Our fisherman can plan their own fishing schedules with a personal guide at their disposal.

Catch and release is the prevailing rule at the lodge, with trophy bass being photographed and quickly released.

A Great Dinner Awaits Hungry Anglers! Our chef has over 20 years experience working with American clients and understands their likes and dislikes, he will serve you a variety of delicious meals including of steak, fish, shrimp, barbecue chicken, and Mexican specialties during your stay. Dining is in our glass enclosed palapa dining room overlooking the river! Three meals are served daily in the central dining room. For you "hard core fisherman, a box lunch can be provided if you wish to fish all day.
